FYI- Take care of your ride! 3 MUST KNOW FUEL RULES
If you’re any type of friend look out for your buddies… There’s a lot to knowledge that we have as automotive junkies that regular folks don’t know.
Just this week I witness 3 of my friends make near fatal discussion for their cars.
How might you ask? Making bad choice fueling their vehicles- Please allow me to elaborate.
Subject A- My first buddy who’s name will remain unknown; left the city to visit me at my home about 45 minutes out. This buddy happens to drive an 8 cylinder truck with a performance engine. He’s is by no stretch of the imagination a car buff. I witness him pump 87 octane into his car. You know I almost laid an egg. I had to explain to him why he can’t burn such a light fuel in his truck. He would have never known better had I not been with him that day. I m sure many of you know someone making this same mistake. FACT: (Large engines and high performance engines require high grade gas in many cases. These gas burns at a higher temperature with allows more powerful combustion to power the engine.)
Subject B-My second buddy whose name I shall not divulge; stops for gas on our way out to a party Saturday night. He goes to a gas station that the gas truck is currently refueling.
Huge NO, NO. Allow me to explain what happens here- As the gas stations stock aide is being replenished all of the lose debris in stock aide tank flushed through the fresh gas; heightening your chances for dirty gas. (MY TIP)- What 30 to 45 minutes after the refueling truck is gone to pump your gas- this will give the debris an opportunity to settle back to the bottom.
My last friend whose name will also remain anonymous stopped by to visit Sunday. When I came to her car to greet her I realize that her gas hand is on “E”. I frantically shouted out- You’ve gotta take care of that. She replies “its cool- I do it all the time” WRONG- This is never cool.
All of the trash in your gas tank rest at the bottom of the tank. When you allow your gas to get low your fuel filter is more likely to get clogged up with trash and eventually choke your fuel pump to death (RIP)
If this is a bad habit of yours- Undo it immediately.
Remember- Knowledge isn’t worth anything if you can share it. Tell your friends these 3 fuel rules. You may save them a headache and they’ll love you for it!
Ride on a full tank,
Geoff Morris
